New year, new me!

Big goals are planned for 2026. I’m making creativity a major part of my self-care plan. Episodes of escapades and experiments are abound!

Albuquerque

September of 2025 began a new life for my fiancé and I. We moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico for a new job opportunity. I was in a creative rut. I wanted to do art so badly but nothing inspired me. Refreshing our location was the spark that I needed. New Mexico and all of its towns and cities are full of art and culture.

I’ve found some creative spaces to attend workshops and classes. There’s all sorts of markets, galleries, and quirky art stores. I feel more at home here, like I have found my people. The weather is beautiful. The mountains are stunning. My creativity just got its pulse back!

Art Lab

I set up my studio space which I now call my Art Lab. My space is cozy with soft lighting with lots of bright colors. The architecture of the room isn’t just a box with a window and a door. The wall with the window has angles resembling a bay window. I have a large closet for all of my supplies! This space is fun and inspires me to experiment with art.

Setting up your Art Lab is just the start. It’s the spark that lights the fire. But sparks also need fuel. Something to keep the fire going once it ignites. That fuel, for me, has been revisiting the basics. Going back to square one and relearning everything I know.

Give Me Fuel, Give Me Fire

I have been telling my fiancé, since I met him, about my dream. I want to have a YouTube channel that focuses on everything art. He is the best human ever. He has supported me 100%. He has offered his knowledge and skills in the production world. This helps elevate my videos to make them professional quality.

Together we are developing my channel, Samantha’s Art Lab. Our 2026 focus is to include tutorials and workshops. We also want to add product reviews, hacks, challenges, unboxing, and hauls. One of our first focuses is on burnout. That’s what I’ve been going through. If I’m going through it, chances are someone else out there is too.

Beating Burnout

I chose five low-pressure activities (experiments) that don’t rely so much on your creative engine. It gently nudges it back to life by giving you simple tasks to try.
